Bovines by BrinComment by giantmike: Absolutely wonderful. Great perspective, and good use a a very wide lens. Did you also you a polarizing filter to get the sky to be so dramatic? |

MSC POESIA by BrinComment by jovani28: Originally posted by senor_kasper: I don't know if the ropes add or detract here, I have the feeling that it would be a more impressive picture without the ropes. great shot anyway. |
pretty sure if the rope was not there it would have been just another ship shot

Bovines by BrinComment by tanguera: A ribbon contender for sure. Great use of wide angle/fisheye, terrific processing, although there is something a little steely about it. It is interesting, but a bit cold for such a pastoral scene. |

Rakel (ref. to "Afghan Girl by Steve McCurry)by BrinComment by Citadel: Greetings from the critique club!
For this challenge unfortunately you had two things working against you choosing this subject. 1) The photograph you are trying to replicate is probably one of THE most famous images ever. In fact it was named National Geographics most memorable image 2) There were a LOT of attempts at this.
So in light of those two factors, you did pretty well. You got the colors pretty close to the original. The expression is off but I think that is part of the x-factor that makes the original so famous. Its like trying to recreate Mona Lisa's smile. The eyes aren't quite like the original. Again, that's part of the x-factor.
By itself, the image is actually pretty good. You have a great catch light and you've got good exposure. The colors are vibrant without being oversaturated. The trouble is, again, when your version is put up against the others (the original and the dopplegangers that showed up in this challenge).
Good effort and certainly worth a shot. |
