Given the amount of noise (presumably due to using a high ISO) I'd have converted to b/w. Still, not a bad interpretation of the topic.

I believe you had the right idea here. Nice composition to make the negative space become the wow factor, while having a single main subject being a small part of the photo. I just which there was less noise in the photo.
