Composition is good, though I think for this particular challenge, a mild fill flash of some sort would have accentuated the form of the study. Also, I think a full body shot would have better conveyed the "science" theme. All in all, I like your approach to this challenge.

I really the way the backround is almost the same tone as the bird, but not quite. I think it could be more powerful if the light was coming from the other dirrections, or the birds head turned towards the light, so that there were more details on the birds eye. I bet it is extremely hard to get birds to pose for pictures however. Overall I like this alot, 7.

By far, the most striking image in this... tepid challenge, IMO.

Excellent lighting/adjustments under what appear to be difficult conditions. A great find and apt choice of subject. With the dof not too narrow, this crips, detailed image would make a superb illustration as well.

Considering what else has been submitted, and putting no more than a little faith in the voters, there really is no competition for this photo. Outstanding!

Marvelous! I love the composition, the earthy tones are very nice plus the subject is interesting. The lighting is perfect in my opinion and it fits the challenge very well. I couldn't find anything I didn't like. 10
