Greetings from the Critique Club

Initial thoughts/My opinion
Lots of edges and texture on various length-scales, starting by the frost/snow on the large ice plates via the small ice pieces up to the largest one. One feels the cold air at this winter lake.
However, a woow-factor is somehow missing.

Composition/Content
On the one hand the content is well chosen because a lot of sharp, well defined edges are shown. On the other hand, the composition is somewhat flat: it's more like a texture image with the third dimension missing.
Not sure if a tighter crop, a lower angle or both would have worked better, but that's were I see the major improvement possibilities.
While almost all shades of grey from black to white are included it appears also to be of rather low contrast. Maybe a more artistic approach with strong contrast could be a solution. However, that's not everybody's taste.
Also, B&W works of course well here, but a blue tint might have been as good.

Camera work -technically
No issue that I can see. The use of a wide DOF works well. Exposure is also OK

Digital Processing - Technical
Also nothing special to be mentioned. Especially sharpness shouldn't be increased, otherwise it would become to grainy

Fits the challenge
Yes, in the literal sense of "on the edge".

Good luck for you further submissions

As this is one of my first Critique Club critiques, it would be helpful to get some feedback if you like.

Very funny and original shot. After reading your descripition I applaud you for coming up with it.

I think what hurt this image was a lack of light. Hence the noise.

What I've found when working with bad light is to try and compensate by reflecting as much of it as possible to increase what you have.

A few pieces of white paper set around the popcorn could have added enough to brighten the image where you wouldn't have had the noise problem. I'm assuming you were working with a hotel lamp.

Possibly you could have tried to not zoom as much as you did and given the illusion of a macro by cropping,, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

It really is a good shot and the humour factor is a plus.

Greetings from the Critique Club:
What fun to capture the old one all decked out. There is just enough of the Model T showing to pull this off, although it would have been nice if you could have brought it out a bit more. The lights are erratic and emphasize the motion of the car, as does the lighting over the wheels. The sepia tones are very soft and and serve to hold the decorative lights in importance. Overall this is a grab it while you can image and as such is very pleasant. Thanks for it.

I would like to see more of the truck and the context of its demise. Too much sky in this shot, I think.

This is a good picture. The sky is somewhat red. You didn't really make a poster.

I think the whitebalance was wrong in this shot... unless you wanted everything to look pink?
