Ok... I just realized that 4+ years ago this was among my selections in the "Pick your fav image from the person above you" side challenge. This week I had the realization that "picking a favorite" should have included a comment about why. So I've been back over the last 1600+ posts to make amends for my omission.

Although it seems you've not been active here for a while, here's my belated comment:

Not sure why this was ranked so low. For me, it's a wonderful representation of the theme and effective in commanding my attention. Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo.

Interesting find. Perhaps a bit too centered for the crop. I think Advanced Rules would allow for you to clone out the black specs. Not sure that I see much of an Orton Effect applied - especially on the pine cone itself, still I like the marked textural change from the prickly pine cone to the cottony snow. Five.

Nice pop of blue, but those blue smudges on the surface really distracted me. I am also not sure this came off as terribly abstract to me.

The brightness of the sun really doesn't bother me with this. The blades of grass seem to balance everything well.

I like the different take on the subject and the crispness of the pencils. There's something about the lower part of the picture I'm not so fond of....it's drawing my eye from the pencils. I think it might be the 'weight' of the reflections of the base that's doing it. Still like the picture though!

I like the idea. I think I would prefer less exposure on some of the top parts and removing the bits laying around rubber/plastic thingy (I don't know what I'm looking at) :)
