I like the subject and layout - plus I think the colouring in the sky is very good. Not sure about all the dark shadows in the foreground. I might have been tempted to crop some of them out

Well think about a family portrait. Would they all be situated behind a wall with only the top of their heads showing? Probably not but I'm sure stranger has happened.

Portraiture is pretty straightforward by definition. Bending a little is always fine but the more you bend the better the photo has to be to compensate. IMHO.
