An appealing image that nearly meets the challenge.

From your title we can see what your intention was ie., to centre the island to fulfil the challenge brief. However, in the true sense of the challenge brief it only loosely fills that centred requirement, yes its centred vertically but not horizontally but that would have altered the composition detrimentally so you have done the right thing but your choice of subject, appealing as it is, is not really enabling you to meet the challenge fully. In addition the lighting is harsh and flat with a plain uninteresting sky. Good landscape photography is as much about the light as it is about the composition, you really need to go back again and again until you hit it with the right light that transforms your image from a snapshot to an image with that magic wow.

I like the girls pose, especially the paint covered hands but I'm afraid the image is let down by a few issues.

As has already been pointed out the desat of the neck, and for me, the hair and eyes too, is the biggest single issue that lets your image down, it would have been a lot better to leave all of these features naturally coloured together with her hands.

There is a significant inaccuracy with your selections throughout which shows that your daughter was wearing a bright yellow/green top? I think a bit of feathering may have helped here, there are thin but distinct lines of yellow around her fingers which are most obvious towards the ends of her fingers.

The activity was, I hope, fun for her it would have helped to have got a more smiley face which would have made the image even more appealing. The background is rather distracting, the pictures on the left in particular. Its a shame that you have cropped off a small portion of her little finger.

I think generally there needs to be more attention to detail, both in-camera and post-processing, its all the little things that cumulatively add up to significantly mar the overall impact the image could have made.

The look on the girls face is entrancing. I'm not really liking the fact that you didn't blend in her neck with the same colour tones as her face, looks kind of weird, I'm guessing others will mention that also. I love the coloured hands though. I'm giving you a 6 could of been more though ;)

If you hadn't desaturated the neck, this would be much better. The skin on the neck being grey looks a little creepy, but not a good creepy in this case. Sorry. :)

Looks like you used the radial filter on the face which misses out part of the neck and hair. But the lighter tones makes it work here.
