First Impression: Good colour and contrast. Lighting (flash) is a bit too harsh. Shadow from hand and arm distracts.

Composition: Placement of your subject seems to work and you've managed to keep from cropping at joints like wrists and elbows (a rule of thumb when doing portraits or shots of people/animals).

Exposure: Seems ok as the skin tones and other colours appear natural.

Impact: Expressions on children's faces can usually carry a shot despite other imperfections. In this image I feel that the flash lighting is quite harsh and takes away from the impact.

I'm sure if you set up some other lights and avoided the on board flash you could get some very pleasing images of the child.

What sweet eyes. I like the animal idea alot. Hmmmm - wonder if you could proportionally zoom in so we could see more of him. What a lovely animal. Nice detail for so far away.
