Dare to be different.JPGby Rachel34Comment by rex: Now this color one is good. The green in the wood is great. I just think it would have been a lot better if you got it all in good focus. As it looks now it is ok. Keep in mind this is just my opinion. |

Nuts and Bolts.JPGby Rachel34Comment by srdanz: Very pretty. I like the DOF you used. The light source (natural one of course) yielded very pretty shadows on the wood, but did a disservice by creating that shadow from the bolt on the washer.
Composition - wise, this could be made more exciting by following the rule of 3rds - do not place your subject so close to the center. I don't see how you can crop this one to achieve the effect, but you could experiment with re-shooting the same scene from a different angle, placing the nut&bolt more towards the lower left, perhaps. I find the shades on the wood much more interesting than the blurred background on the left.
Now, I am still under the influence of the recent Ansel Adams challenge, and I am thinking more in terms of the clear and sharp b/w photos, hence the reccomendation to kill the blurred background and get more of the wood in the frame.
I hope this helps,
