My first thought was it should all be in focus, then I scrolled down and saw the comment by Rex, guess I must be on the right lines? Nice shot and snappy title. it looks like a nice light day so you should be able to get it all in focus hand held.

A bit more contrast would make the image pop. Composition is fine. Realigning the tilt of the vertical wood would give a better feeling, but you're definitely on the right track with this one. Also a bit of sharpening would give some textural interest.

Again, you've a real knack for composition! Again, try deepening (darkening) your tones, especially your mid-tones. Nice work!

I like this one, Rachel. The lines leading into the photo are great, and the subject is unusual and interesting. You might try deepening your darker tones a bit.

I love the grooves in the wood. The color gives it character. Great work.

Thanks Rex...I don't have a tripod...so I'm standing out there leaning propped up...I won't go into details but I'm sure it would make a good pic on its own...my hands get shaky....gotta go get a tripod....and I value your opinion....thanks so much...you shoot straight from the hip...I like that!!

This is the one in your n&b series I like the best. You could try using a sheet of white paper below the bolt to get some light reflection there.
Keep the shutter clicking, I have the feeling that you will do good on this site.
