Sky absrtactby gisliComment by Man_Called_Horse: This is not an abstract IMO. It is a wide shot of a landscape.
Definition 1= Art that departs significantly from natural appearances. Forms are modified or changed to varying degrees in order to emphasize certain qualities or content. Recognizable references to original appearances may be slight. The term is also used to describe art that is nonrepresentational.
Definition 2=Not realistic, though the intention is often based on an actual subject, place, or feeling. Pure abstracion can be interpreted as any art in which the depiction of real objects has been entirely discarded and whose aesthetic content is expressed in a formal pattern or structure of shapes, lines and colors. When the representation of real objects is completely absent, such art may be called non-objective.
Nice comp, nice light, great dof, nice flow, blacks ok, whites barely in, nice texture, great color, overall a nice pix but not for this challenge. |

Sunsetby gisliComment by philup: ***Greetings from the Critique Club***
First let me say this is a great picture! I think if this picture would have been in a regular challenge and not a challenge with 800+ you probably would have finished in the top 25 if not better. Many people get tired after voting a while and start giving 4's and 5's.
Anyway, back to the picture. The best thing about the shot is the awesome sunset. The clouds give such a great feel to the picture. The sunset reflecting off the lake adds another pop to the picture. I also like how your mountain tops are different sizes. It really moves my eyes up and down, which I think is good.
The only thing I can find wrong with the picture is the lighting. Maybe a little bit more light may have helped. I think you lose detail when the picture is a little bit dark. Just my opinion.
I hope this critique helps!

Sky absrtactby gisliComment by macrothing: 3 - Very nice shot but for this Challenge, if the aurora/sky were the only subject would have made this better (and more apt) in my opinion. Even the reflection on the water incorporated too would have been good but judging by this perspective, near impossible without the 'land'. |
