Looks like you've captured some nice texture on the popped kernels, but they're flirting with the edge of focus, and the makes it hard to tell. A bump in contrast, IMO, would've helped it "pop" (pun intended) also.

I like that you focused on the texture with this close up. However, the lighting needs some work to bring out those textures more. Try using a light source that you can place at a 45 degree angle of the subject so you can get some shadows going, which is what makes the little lines and crevices in the texture stand out. Since this subject is small you may need to make your light source smaller as well perhaps creating a snoot (a long tube in front of the light) to narrow the beam. Anyway, just an idea. Good luck!

This isn't a bad shot, but it seems to obvious to me. The winner of this challenge is going to do something unique with their popcorn, rather than just what you see every day.
