Why the shallow focus, strange angle, and annoying background? Lemons are in focus and oysters (I guess) basically cannot be seen.

Thank You Bacchus...I held my heavy 50-500mm lens by hand and shot through a fence (which blurred out as I was 1 metre away). On the original, you can see little droplets of water on the whiskers and hair around the mouth. Obviously, the reduced size here doesn't show this.

I took about 100 close ups while three male lions fed...it was an awesome morning's shooting

Thanks for your comments,

Enzo

I have a fairly simple comment for this one:

damn. that's awesome.

!!!

Beautiful detail! And I never thought I'd have a comment like this, but here it is: "Incredibly awesome detail on the nose!" LOL ~ I do mean it, though. This is just SHARP. Very nice!

Wonderful expression on the subject. It's amazing to me how human primates are. Or how primate humans are. You get the point. I see ourselves in their expressions. Not all that different, in my opinion. Only gorillas tend to be less violent than humans.

With the leafy foreground, I like it. I try to do this somewhat when I'm at the zoo. Especially with primates. Gives a sense of being 'in the bush' or what-have-you. Great capture!

I think the depth of field is a bit too narrow - we need to see move oyster.

Background is distracting and IMHO, the pic would benefit form a deeper DOF.

This is really close to being nice shot (IMO)... But your DOF is so shallow and as a result what is most clear in the shot are the lemon wedges, not the oysters. It took me a second to figure out what the "aphrodisiacs" were, because they were out of focus. Best!

The image does not really tell me what the dish is. Can't really make it out without the clue from your title.
Perhaps a more diagonal presentation of the dish would have worked better.
