Personally, with this shot I would have used just the glass egg, elevated it off the surface a little (somehow), taken a photo, cropped just to show the refection, and flipped it to make the reflection right side up. It might not have fit the challenge as well, but it would be cool! I think that reflection looks great.

Fits The Challenge-Yes, although the despair is not tragic, or depressed to a great extent here.
Composition-Nice. I don't know if you happened on this person or if you staged it. I do like it, the person and the stairs.
Background-Good
My Opinion-It's a bit dark for my liking. Of course it goes with the over all mood of the shot/challenge. I'm not sure I'd of cropped off the feet. I like this shot, it's unusual, and good to look at.
