A Tornado did thisby STEINRComment by mbardeen: Greets from the Critique Club!
Initial Impression:
Interesting, though uninspiring due to the lighting.
Challenge:
This meets the challenge through the combination of image and title. I wish I could see the connection between the pic and the challenge without the title, but with this subject it's rather hard.
Composition:
Placing the barn where you did in the picture is a good idea though I would have liked it more if it was on the other side of the frame (Leaning into the picture as opposed to out of the picture).
Technical:
This is my biggest complaint - the lighting is fairly flat and pretty uninspiring. The midday sun is harsh on subjects and here it's no exception. Early morning or late afternoon sunlight is often the best to work with. My other complaint is the focus feels rather soft.
Overall:
Solid idea, technical issues let you down. You should go back to the same location near sunset or sunrise and take some more photographs.. this is an interesting subject! Show it off! |

Floraby STEINRComment by p_johns: Amazing composition! I think this stands out so much as its using the 3 most contrasting colors, black white and red. Like a newspaper! I am giving this a 10 and its definitely one of my favourites. |

Mighty Joe Young (or Mightier Josephine?) - at restby STEINRComment by MrZed: if this was taken in the wild i would give it a 10 but seems as the subject is still and not exactly much effort to go to the zoo!! i would settle for everyday animals or at least wild ones, you don't need to go for the rare ones to score points!
Still nice focus! |

Mighty Joe Young (or Mightier Josephine?) - at restby STEINRComment by Kaz: Nice catch, I really like the feel of this one and he/she has such a great expression--but I think I'd like it better if you cropped off the branch to the right, you'd lose some of the animal, but I don't think you need the whole thing. Just an idea... |

Floraby STEINRComment by karmat: Normally, I don't like pictures that look more graphic than photographic, but this one is particularly effective. The grays make the color of the flower even more bold. I only think the flowers could be a little less centered. |

Floraby STEINRComment by dsidwell: Wild use of wild colors! Symmetry works well here, and with more interesting light, this would really pop! |
