Rock and Roll Hall of Fameby STEINRComment by alanfreed: This is also an awesome place to shoot at night if you have the chance! One of the most interesting pieces of architecture I've ever visited. And I might also add that there's an entire corner dedicated to Alan Freed in there (seriously!). |

Collectiblesby STEINRComment by RiderGal: Personally I do not consider magazines to be in a horizontal shape... thats just me though. This is very pretty how you put it in front of the window kind of lightingup the glass. This might have been a cool picture for the glass challenge. I like the photo, as just that a photo, I don't think it would work as the cover of a magazine for various reasons, including the shape of the photograph, and I couldn't imagine how it would ever fit a vertical page. Although I like the photo I have to count down for my belief that it doesn't really fit the challenge. Sorry

Collectiblesby STEINRComment by GeneralE: I'd like to try draping some sheer fabric over the back of the opening there so soften/darken the backlighting a little. |

Collectiblesby STEINRComment by KING: You have made good use of a natural frame. Unfortunately your subjects are a little out of focus. |

Collectiblesby STEINRComment by ChrisW123: Wow, you know it's really nice but it doesn't convey magazine to me at all because it's LANDSCAPE orientation! Did you think of this? |

Tickle Those Ivoriesby STEINRComment by DrJOnes: Greetings form the critique club.
Here we have a basic example of what lighting could have provided to help create a mood in the shot. Creating a specific mood would have helped create feeling and might have added some warmth to the shot. Unfortunately, as it is, the shot is rather plain and doesn't convey much, except its basic purpose of showing two hands playing on a piano. The composition is nice and the crop is good. The use of a shallow depth of field is very well chosen in this case, adding emphasis on the hands and the piano keys. It might have been slightly better to have a bit more depth of fiels though, as we feal limited to look at one hand only. But that's no problem.
My personal rating of the shot: 5. Meets the challenge. Technicaly well done. Unfortunately average shot.
Keep up the good work! |
