Feeling Helplessby mcraelComment by Gracious: Critique Club Comments by Grayce
I think that desaturating all but the yellow works very well for this image, making the yellow stand out very well.
The focus is good, with excellent texture in the rope as well as the hand, with effective depth of field.
I like that you expressed a feeling and in a simple, uncluttered manner.
The diagonal of the thumb and arms acts as a nice vehicle for the eyes to ride along, as one explores this picture, making the composition and framing fine. I would prefer to see the entire thumb in the picture though.
Your lighting is pretty perfect. Bright enough, but somewhat subtle too. Very nice!
Good job overall.

Another Day Beginsby mcraelComment by ChrisW123: Finally, another good one. You should have cropped to exclude the glasses on the right, and turned the bottle around so you can see the label (make it more prominate). 7 |

Feeling Helplessby mcraelComment by jmsetzler: excellent composition... the color of the rope is very strong here and the diagonal orientation of the arms intersecting with the rope makes the composition very strong.. nice work :) - setzler |

Peek a Boo!by mcraelComment by mcrael: Thanks to all who commented. Your comments are appreciated. For those of you who did not like my props or the shadows - the shadows are deliberate. While it wasn't my intention, I think the "distracting" shadow served a purpose in making my Waldo "not so obvious." I was surprised that some voters had difficulty locating my Waldo.
The mason jar is an antique collectible, and highly desirable in the area where I live. Mason jars of this type are often used as flower vases for country decor (or so I thought).
To each his own, I guess, but I am pleased with how well the photo performed in this challenge. Message edited by author 2003-02-23 12:29:40. |
