THEME: Your photo respects the challenge with secondary colors.

LIGHTING & FOCUS: lighting is ok but seems just a tad under-ex (lets hope it's not my monitor here at work :o)). Your focus is good as well.

COMPOSITION: This is where I feel you lost most of your points. To me it just looks like a point-and-shoot photo taken on the fly. Also, photos of "beaten down" flora isn't the best way to portray flora as they represent life so people want to see nice healthy flowers (since this is DPC and you have to please the public eye).

Your background adds to the point-and-shoot feeling. It doesn't seem like much thought was put into this shot.

A tighter crop would have focused my eye more on the flowers than on everything else around.

A good exercise would be to try and recreate it and improving on it.

OK we have two kittens as well so you automatically get a 10...there. You have done a superb job of capturing a rather hyperactive creature. No blur and no red eye which is common in about the other 999 shots. I love the playful pose and how the subject is framed by beautiful yellow folds. Not to mention those gorgeous yellow peepers. The fur color and blanket color are a touch off the normal beaten path. But artistic license is legal in my jurisdiction. The pink paw pads and whiskies are heart melting...ahhhhh. Purrfection if you ask me (ha ha).
