The light is pretty harsh--if you can't shoot in the evening or morning, a polarizing filter and a warmer whitebalance go a long way to softening the light and bringing out color in your subject.

what a pretty field and a lovely sky. i can see why it is hard to decide which to crop - but i am not a big fan of the centered horizon here - i think the sky is more dramatic and is more worthy of our attension. Possibly a different crop - horizontal with an emphasis on the sky would have provided more feeling of balance between the sky and the field
