Last Stand on Columbia Lakeby srbrubakerComment by Skip: this isn't what i would really call a strong free study entry. as a photograph, it's alright, but it's not very captivating.
from a challenge standpoint, you would want your images to capture and keep the viewers attention. before you submit to a challenge, ask yourself, \"is this something i personally would want to be my pc's wallpaper for the next week?\" ask yourself, \"does this image really rock me, or am i just entering to have something in the challenge?\" it's one thing to be looking to improve your photography, it's a different thing to be looking to improve your ability to compete in challenges. if you are a member, use the portfolio space to get comments and to make improvements. trying to do it soley through challenges puts you in a position of not necessarily getting enough comments to really help improve in either way. hope this helps some, good luck in the future! |

Blushing Lady Close Upby srbrubakerComment by Kylie: I already have three times more comments given than received, so this is only becuase the color and beauty here called me out. I always love seeing your work; you know that. This is exceptionally vivacious. |

Blushing Lady Close Upby srbrubakerComment by arpita: I saw your call for comments in the Invitational challenge thread, and dropped in, though the comment is not for the purpose of getting into the challenge (that's not going to happen :D).
The colors in this picture caught my eye, and the lighting you have used has enhanced these colors. There's a lot of potential here, but it could do with some modification. First, the central part of the flower is lacking in sharpness; that might be simply because you didn't use enough USM on it (need to reuse USM everytime you resize a photo almost). Second, the crop, I think if you crop some off the bottom, and some off the left you will get a tighter composition. That combined with a sharper centre will make this quite a stunning image, I think :) Message edited by author 2005-04-24 12:59:57. |
