_M8H2685.jpgby Mal37Comment by Skip: nicely seen. this is a shot that takes a LOT of work, just because of the variables (RHP vs RHB or LHB, how the ump sets up, whether the batter crowds the plate). going for this shot also means you have limited opportunity to catch any ensuing action, because you are so far removed from the rest of the field (as well as the likelihood of having your view blocked by the umpire or catcher). however, when you can catch the shot, it makes it all worth it. again, nice work!
if you have time to experiment (and if the structure of the backstop permits), try a lower perspective with a shallower dof like this and see what happens.
another cool shot to get is of the ball coming into the catcher's mitt from behind at f/2.8, framed so that the pitcher is clearly visible (but oof). |
