Cool idea! Great shot and I would also like to see a full frame version. You did fantastic controlling those specular highlights. The softbox and mirror did the trick...will have to remember that!

Oh and I agree using the rule of thirds would have been a better composition.

This has great potential and I like this version as well. I agree the noise is pretty bad, but you could clean that up with noiseware or other noise reduction software. If you could take it off the wall and outside in the sun I think those textures would really come alive.

In retrospect, I see that this isn't shot very well.
We had tornado warnings last night as I was about to leave work, so I stayed a while, camera in hand, shooting around the office. Unfortunately, this was shot at 1600 ISO because I was handheld and a little shaky. I'll try to redo this some time. It's a great painting.
