Print.jpgby thomaspeopleComment by muz64: It's got potential. I'd say go for strong sidelighting - there's a lot of reflected glare in this one (from top right). The focus also falls off from the middle to the top right - so it looks like there's a bit of a tilt to the surface. Make sure your lens is perpendicular (in both planes) to the surface you're photographing - to get everything in focus. I'd also experiment with the texture of the surface - I'd start real smooth to just highlight the fingerprint texture. I'd also try a real greasy fingerprint dusted with some fine talc. |

Foil bowlby thomaspeopleComment by jasonlprice: Cool idea! Great shot and I would also like to see a full frame version. You did fantastic controlling those specular highlights. The softbox and mirror did the trick...will have to remember that!
Oh and I agree using the rule of thirds would have been a better composition. |

paintby thomaspeopleComment by jasonlprice: This has great potential and I like this version as well. I agree the noise is pretty bad, but you could clean that up with noiseware or other noise reduction software. If you could take it off the wall and outside in the sun I think those textures would really come alive. |
