The 80's Crazeby ChinabunComment by DrAchoo: There were way to many shots that just relied on the nostalgia of a piece of 80's paraphenalia. I'm afraid this is one of them. The doll is perfectly centered and mostly just put on display rather than doing anything. The background is fairly blase. The lighting of the doll, however, isn't bad at all. To improve this picture, you need to add dynamics through a more interesting pose, crop and background. I gave it a 5 in voting. |

The 80's Crazeby ChinabunComment by Rikki: I hope you see my comment as constructive and helpful in your pursuit to improve your photos ;)
Ok Danielle. Let's get to the show shall we? First off, the horizontal is askew :( I am a big stickler for straight verticals and horizontals. I gave this image a 6 due to the gorgeous lighting and backdrop. There were lots os 80s paraphernalia shown during the challenge and I think this just got buried in the mix. The doll is situated in the middle which is a no-no in photographic compositions. The borders are a nice touch but the slight blur leaves me wanting for a clean crisp line.
I hope I could help in any way ;)
Cheers,
Rikki |

The 80's Crazeby ChinabunComment by bluenova: I hope you find this constructive, but remember I am just a beginner too.
I didn't vote in this one but if I did I would have given a 4
I can't relate to it, cause I've never seen the doll before, and to be honest the doll is not very appealing, and appeal goes a long way on this site.
Technically IMHO, the rule of 3rds was not used as the doll is almost centre which makes for bad composition, and the picture is not straight, it needs rotating. The colour also looks very boring with all the browns.
Sorry for so much negativity, please try to look at these comments in a positive way to improve future submissions. |
