Comment by Jacko:
I like this picture. Looks like it needs a bit of focus on the back. The background is a bit busy, but I don't mind because I like photos too -- I could do without the leaf on the right side. Good luck. Jacko. I'll give it a 8 because it's memorable.

Comment by Gordon:
interesting take on the challenge, lighting could do with improvement though , overall yellowish cast and dim lighitng detract from a potentially strong image. The background clutter doesn't add much either, other than disatractions

Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
Fast and friendly, meets the challenge, pretty cool shot

Composition/ Content
I'm a little surprised this didn't do a better than it did. Windows was a tough challenge with lots of high scores but I like this. It has a fresh and happy feel to it. Katie-Mac is very inviting. The blow-out behind her head is a little distracting as are the red car and the apartments. The bricks that show as a reflection in the window actually add to the shot in my estimation. They seem to point right toward Katie and her infectious smile.

Background
As I mentioned there are a lot of distracting elements here and probably the weakest area of the shot. Did you try different angles or was Katie too quick for that?

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems good but it's hard to know what to even focus on. It seems pretty even though. Lighting is good on Katie-Mac, the focal point. I like the blur of the towel.

Digital Processing - Technical
Because of the relaxed rules of this challenge you may have been able to clone out some of the distractions but it would have been a nightmare IMHO.

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a six that bordered on a seven. I think that it meets the challenge well but was a little busy. It may have done better in another challenge i.e. reflections or journalism because Katie-Mac is more the focus than the window or door. I like the shot. Good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

Critique Club Critique

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) This is going to be a very difficuot photograph for me to critique. I find the jumble of "things" to be a distraction rather than adding to the composition. It is very difficult to find a place for the eye to rest.

(2) BACKGROUND The background is very cluttered. Between the tree and the building in the reflection, its hard to know what to look at first

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL The DOF is very deep, and there are no parts of the photograph that are out of focus. The subject is rather ambiguous because of this. I am guessing that the face is the subject...you have placed the face into the proper location (according to the rule of thirds).

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Your post processing is good. Saturation is good, cropping is good.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does not do a very good job of meeting the challenge. I do not really get the square part (you personally look anything but "square" to me).

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO The subject here is alright. The way you executed it is alright. I think this is a photograph that you may wish to re-shoot under different lighting conditions. The potential here is great, but I feel that you have not quite gotten it yet.
