I have commented previously, though ever so briefly, about my first impression of the picture, so I will try to be a little more specific this time! :-)

I think your focus is right on, and you used the availble lighting well. The overall composition may be a bit busy, though, with so many runners to look it. It does have a good photojournalist/sports photography look to it though. As far as "meeting the challenge," I think your entry could have been strengthened by focusing on the three guys in front and on the right. Since one has an orange jersey, then a yellow one, then a blue/purple one, it may have "highlighted" the colors more, and made them more of a focal point in the picture.

After reading your comments, I see that several stated it had a "snapshot" feeling to it. I imagine the busy composition I mentioned above may lead to that. You have included a lot of "stuff" for the viewer to look at. Also, on either edge are partial people. Especially on the right, where half of the tall guy is cut off. Perhaps if you could have zoomed in/cropped one person, or even two or three, to allow more of a focal point, it wouldn't feel quite so casual. I think a neat picture would have been a super close up of one of the faces (challenge notwithstanding), to really show the intensity.

Far too much green to capture the point elegantly. Better might have been red blooms in that vase, though of course the leaves themselves count -- maybe a neutral vase? But a nice, arty shot, I suppose.

First impression of this image, well executed. It is well balanced, though I will go into the cropping shortly. And as you have no doubt been told, the border is a bit distracting.

This definately meets the challenge and you have found a unique way to represent the primary colours. It's a shame the yellow pills were not a little more yellow, but they are still clearly yellow. I would say more saturation would bring the yellow out but that would be at the expense of blowing out the yellow on the pill bottles.

I think the thing that could improve your image alot is the composition, I think a tighter crop would have made for a more visually appealing shot. It is often tempting to show the entire subject within the image, but look at alot of the really strong visual images and they give you enough of the image to identify it but not the entire subject. I think this shot would have more impact if you cropped out alot of the pill bottles on one side of the image and spilled the pills out the other side of the image. But still maintained the diagonal, which I think works well.

Technically you have executed this quite well, perhaps it could be a little brighter in order to give it a little more punch. But otherwise it seems technically well done.

Overall I think with a little more work this would be a really strong image and I think it was an excellent idea.
