Rear Windowby bucketComment by Gauti: not very interesting. it might actually be more interesting if it was less in focus and more impressionistic |

Rear Windowby bucketComment by Ken: Kind of hard to see out of the window, although that may be the effect you were going for. But I still want to see what's out there! |

Rear Windowby bucketComment by margiemu: First look, I didn't really like this, but it's sort of growing on me. It has a very soft "water color" feel to it. |

Rear Windowby bucketComment by LN13: I don't know why, but I think this is really cool. Perhaps it's because I get the feeling that you decided not to let bad weather deter you. Well done. |

Maskedby bucketComment by Louis: Greetings from the Critique Club!
This is a great image that has an immediate impact. In addition to simply fulfilling the challenge, the material over the face adds tension and drama, distorting the figure beneath so much so that we are left asking questions, always a good result with a photograph in my opinion. The cloth cuts interesting shapes with light and shadow that satisfy, which actually "soften" the figure to a degree, a nice contrast to the perplexing subject of this photo.
The convex shape of the subject swells gently into the dark negative space in an interesting way, and the highlighted left portion is an interesting offset to the darker, though similar shadows at right.
For me, there is slightly too much of the black negative space in the photograph. I might have preferred cropping a bit more of it out.
Overall, a terrific image, well executed. Congrats!
Hope this helps,
Louis |

fanby bucketComment by dahkota: Always way ahead of the curve. Now what are you going to do for window framed? ;) I shouldn't bother to try knowing you will be there - you always have the best insight into windows... As for this one, there is something compelling about it. At the same time, I am a bit put off by it - I think it is the ugly gray on the right hand side. Not sure why. The image is very weighted to the right - that might be what's doing it. I feel heavy... Somehow I love the juxtaposition of the fan and the glass. |
