While the background does make the subject stand out, I think it is a little too bright. Kinda hurts the eyes to look at it. But a good macro of the spider.

challenge -- met
technical -- i suspect you played a lot with the contrast because (well, because everything's so colorful ;) some of the spider legs are no longer visible. personally, i would've prefered a more natural rendition of the spider, but that's just me.
composition -- having the spider in the middle of the shot works here.

Your "artistic" rendering is what made me rate this quite high. If it had been an "ordinary" shot of the spider, I would not have like it nearly as much. This definitely has a certain appeal to me - in spite of the fact that I very much dislike spiders. lhall

Great spider. How'd you get it like this. Is this it's natural color? I like the life like shots....text book shots. Since I'm not sure I'll give you a 6. If you tell me this is his real color, I'll have to rethink my score - more like an 8 or so. PTL
