A good idea. Neat colors. The lighting and focus are very good. I think the shot could maybe benefit from a more dynamic composition. Maybe at an angle across the frame, or even formed in a 'S' type curve, or a more dramatic point of view, something other than just straight on and centered in the frame.
My guess- the tassels on a graduation cap :-)
