I don't believe that portraits necessarily have to show the subject's face (there are some excellent examples of back-of-head shots on DPC) but I do think that where you're going to break from the norm and go for something different, you need to have an artistic reason for doing so - in other words you need to communicate something when deliberately not showing the face. This to me, if I'm honest, just looks like a snapshot of the back of someone's head and as such does not work well as a portrait.

To capture a portrait from behind is a daring idea, but should be then very original and technically perfect.
Otherwise, it looks like a snapshot.
The subject needed also more DOF to better stands out from the background.

I have two major issues. I'm stuck trying to figure out what the green item is in the hand, and I'm distracted in the detail of the fingers compared to the editing in the back of the hand.
