I take it the dog understands the complicated meaning of friendship. The lighting is unbalanced. A good one for the archives of personal recollection.

I love the girl's facial expression, but there are a number of things you could have done to improve this photo:
1) get the dog in focus, too. 2) use natural light or at least bounce the flash and 3) find a less cluttered background.
