The strange angle is very intriguing. It seems like the bird should be falling backwards off the branch. I'm guessing you cropped down alot, but with the b/w and the artifacts that became more apparent, it adds to the mystique of the shot for me. I'm also guessing from the title, the artisticness of this shot was perhaps unintended. Looking at it more closely, perhaps I'm completely wrong and you just added a plastic type filter and then upped the contrast? Regardless of the intention I do enjoy it.
