I seriously do not understand the context you were trying to portray here. There is not even a title to help the viewer along in terms of finding your direction. What is the focus? Why is he holding a book? Why is he doing this when she's sweeping? There's nowhere for the viewer to look and comprehend the scene, no cultural reference points.
