Greetings from the Critique Club

What a beautiful image. I cannot fault the lighting, the composition or any of the technical aspects of this photograph. I knew it was from India the moment I saw it; I am delighted to see that this beauty comes from an Indian woman.

Now, for a good score (with a piece like this, who cares about the score, but...), it's very important to understand the Challenge. Perspective usually is taken to mean visual perspective, that is: seeing things close up which then recede into the distance. It is not easy to see that in this photograph. Therefore, it was marked down by the voters.

Please do not let this discourage you. But see if you can take your considerable talents and apply them faithfully to the Challenge. If you do that, you will make your way to the top of the list in short order.

Finally, it is very important to fill in the information requested about aperture and shutter speed. Study this, until you can find this information easily. It is better for you as well to know it. You will learn from it.

I look forward to seeing more of your splendid work on DPC. I am delighted to have seen this piece.

Cool picture although I don't get what the title has anything to do with the picture.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a very interesting shot and yes, I can see several faces! This is an interesting choice for the Branch Challenge. Not really sure what you were going for and without looking at the comments I'm betting you got a lower score because many felt it did not meet the challenge. Just looked at the comments and I was right. I would love to hear how you felt it meet the challenge though.

As for the picture, it does have a lot of different facets to it and with some minor adjustments in post processing you could probably really bring out those shadows and faces even better. Right now the lighting and color seems a bit flat and it all really rather blends in together.

If you decide to play with this some more I would love to see the results!

Again, nice shot!

Looks like a pregnant belly to me. I hope that is what you intended. If not .. you still get a 7.

How imaginative. I like this alot. It appears to be a woman's hipline swaying from side to side. This is the most clever shot I've seen in a long time. The small bit of color on the chain belt make for a bit of punch amidst the dim tones of the wood and the silver. Perfect lighting to highling the curve of the wood. Great detailing and the focus is dead clear!!! 10
