I'm sorry, but I don't understand this picture at all. The title says that the picture should be the subject, but the phone books seem to be the first thing viewed because of their position and size. Why are they and the TV, table, chair, & door in this shot? This is a rhetorical question and the type that a photographer should ask before any set up shot.

ok, I'm cycling all over this shot trying to figure out what is the focal point in it. I don't understand the phonebooks. There is a cool figure guy on the tv and then the lighted picture. There is a little too many objects to look at and I"m not getting the wow on any of them cause another item takes away from it. 3

Not sure where to look here...too many elements. The picute on the wall would be enough to make this interesting with the neg space being the wall and door, or table and wall. I think this would have had more of a connection to negative space if the subject were more clear. The title implies that the subject might be the picture on the wall. If that is true, then your "negative space" would be everything else. The phone books aren't that interesting to me. I think this would have a higher visual impact if you took the photo of the picture on the wall, with only the wall as the background. It's a nice picture, and the wall would make great negative space. Is there a reason for the phone books? They look as if they were placed there intentionally, however, I can't find the connection. The lighting on the "subject" is very nice, and the focus and clarity are great. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~
