Gracefulnessby rexComment by Rikki: Hey James. Ok from my first impression of this image during voting I gave it a 6 but couldn't give it any more than that for the following reasons:
- the colors needs a boost in contrast and saturation to make the blue really pop
- the cut-off tail is a bit of a distraction
- last and most importantly, for this image to really have the wow factor, the whale, a beluga it seems, should have been facing the camera so that eye contact is created between the viewer and the subject
There are dark areas in the photo that is somewhat hard to comprehend and the weight of the image is gravitating towards the top as most of the activity is there.
It's not a bad finish though I expected it to be a bit higher than it placed. Shooting through thick glass is a hard task and nothing to take lightly. I think you've done well however, in a Free Study, impact is critical for high votes and comments.
Good luck man.
Cheers,
Rikki |

Gracefulnessby rexComment by bucket: I don't understand at all why a tail sticking out of the frame detracts from some people's perception of what makes this work..i like it..there is something natural about having this..adds to the movement of the shot..
nice work... |

Schoolingby rexComment by fotomann_forever: Actually, I didn't see anything wrong wit the title here. It seemed feature photo-ish to me, so no need to work on the title.
I id have issues with the dark lighting on the child, but that would have been very hard to fix in-camera. Perhaps a bit of dodging would have helped some.
Over-all, I thought it was a nice photo and scored fairly well. |

Schoolingby rexComment by SDW: To much blur for my taste. Would of been better if you could of captured the people and a few complete fish in focus. No center of focus . I wish you the best in the challenge. |

Schoolingby rexComment by petrakka: this is interesting...i wish the people were exposed a little better though, this is a tough exposure to make. |

Schoolingby rexComment by BakerBug: I don't think the blurring helps this shot. I would prefer it if everyting were in sharp focus. |
