Too much negative space on the right hand side of the image. But other than that this is well done!

I would have gone a quare crop and cut out a bit of the negative space in doing so...that would have been a more impactful image as the colors and shapes are great otherwise...try it and see

Comment by Artifacts:
Compositionally well done. Brown tones match dried Sonoran desert plants well. Good placement of main 'spiny' plant. Overall good framing and the soft background highlights the thorniness of the plants and provides good subject separation.
While lost, one of my biggest problems occured when sitting down and getting spines like this stuck firmly in my behind. It happened numerous times. What is worse is that desert spines often have a chemical coating that stings when you get poked. That makes it even more fun when stuck in your rear end. Worse yet, many cactus spines are hooked on the ends that makes them more painful to pull out. Often it is almost impossible to pull these things out easily. A desert trick is to take a standard comb when hiking. You push the comb between the cactus spines and your body and 'comb' the spines out. That was one of the few things I had with me when I got lost and I used it many times.
Gee... thanks for bringing back all those fond memories. LOL!! - Steve

I think this is great how you got that tiny bird in focus amongst all those leaves. Nice 'soft' effect.
