Circle of Funby OzzieComment by CLarson557: The angle at which this was taken and the reflections inside the tube makes for a dull subject more interesting. Good job. Good luck in the challenge. |

Sunriseby OzzieComment by colyla: Excellent! Very crisp and sharp. Great Composition....you caught the mood perfectly!
Maybe cloned the bottom left hand corner (car?) I tried cropping the bottom but I think that would have been too much, so the clonning may be better. |

Windswept Treesby OzzieComment by Shannon: This is very nice, I love the shape and colors of the trees and the colors in this shot are quite nice as well. |

Wish Listby OzzieComment by Ozzie: After I had submitted this photo and saw the much better submissions I wanted to take this one out, especially after receiving comments about the stones (which I cut by the way :-)) on the hand. I do realise now that it could have done better without them. It was difficult for me to get the right lighting on the hand which belongs to my niece. As I was rushing to get this photo done, I could have taken more without the stones on it. That will teach me to rush won't it? I did try taking one of the ring on it's own but I need a macro lens. Any donations accepted. :-)
I guess I can join others in the hall of shame for a lousy shot eh? :-) |

Lonely Bucketby OzzieComment by Ozzie: Thanks for the critique Heather. I was taking other pictures close to sunset when I spotted this red bucket that was on a stretch of sand surrounded by water as the tide came in. I gave it the title "Lonely Bucket" as I thought it had been deserted by some children that were playing nearby. The sunlight was really hitting the side of the bucket at the time which prompted me to take it quickly. I cannot remember if I saturated the colours any further, but if I did, I would have stated it. I'll look at the original later on to be sure. As for the border, I wanted a simple black/grey one but that was how it came out on Microsoft Digital Image Pro which is what I use. I think I am limited on what frames I can use but I'm still learning! All comments are valuable to me. |

I really like the angle and framing/cropping here. The way the bucket is in the upper left and the water/beach kind of seperates is very neat. I like the diagonal in combinateion with the horizontal as well.
The color of the bucket is bright, which makes it a bit difficult to see and also hard to tell if it's in focus or not. It seems soft, but the shovel is in good focus, so it makes me think that it's the color that just makes it appear out of focus.
Lighting seems very good. Looks like it was a good day to be out taking pics. I like the reflections of the rocks in the water. That adds an extra interest.
I think the photo fits the minimalism category cause while there are very interesting things to look at, it's all very simple.
The border seems uneven to me. There's a white stripe on the top and left, but not on the bottom or right. This could be the way I'm looking at it, I'm not sure, but it does look odd to me.
Overall a very nice shot, maybe decrease saturation on tue bucket a bit to tone down that brightness of the red, but definately a neat find.

First reaction to this photo is that the jewels on the back of the hand are a really silly thing. Who has jewels on the back of their hand? That one detail is strong enough to ruin the photo for me. Very out of place, very non realistic, very odd.
The lighting is uneven, which I see could be used to draw attention to a certain area, however, the area that is most brightly lit is to the left of the ring, and below the 2 random jewels.
The placement of the hand is awkward. The perspective is distorting the hand in weird ways. I think maybe having the hand horizontally placed, and not straight on the back of the hand might have created more visual appeal in my opinion.
Focus on the ring seems really good. It's a pretty ring, and I think it would stand on it's own without the jewels. The DOF does not work as a jewelry ad for me.
Overall the photo seems awkward to me.

Solitudeby OzzieComment by Loki: The rock really sets the picture off and makes it stand out. |

Solitudeby OzzieComment by metoecus: Since this challenge used advanced editing rules, I probably would have cloned out the branch that's sticking out of the water just right of center. I like the image, but I'd describe the mood as "calm". Solitude, in my mind, implies that some animal or person should be here enjoying the calm. |
