A Final Tributeby alanfreedComment by Titia: Nice photo. I always wondered why that band of the hats is sitting just under their lips, is their a reason for? If you know you can pm me, I'm not voting this challenge. |

A Final Tributeby alanfreedComment by Teafran: A poignent image which is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint it is very effective demonstrating the rites of farewell - something that this reviewer can appreciate on a personal level. One minor issue with the partial exposure of the officers at the bottom of the image breaks up the geometry of the massed ranks that the author obviously tried so hard to achieve. A little bit of crop would have made this perfect. It works well as it is and should be a top finisher - certainly within the top fifteen. An excellant tribute image. Well done. |

Fruit by alanfreedComment by BeeCee: Congrats on your ribbon! Just sucks that you couldn't have had your day on the front page. (and I like this better than "that other shot") |

Old Faithfulby alanfreedComment by ursula: Ahhh, that explains it! Wide angle lens then. Good. Got to remember that, I'm sort of addicted to the longer lenses. |

Old Faithfulby alanfreedComment by alanfreed: Actually, it was very easy! People weren't allowed any closer than this. There's a boardwalk area with seats going around the circumference of Old Faithful, so it actually would have been harder to include people! I'm not sure if those are people on the right of the water along the bottom of the tree line, though.

Yellowstone Treesby alanfreedComment by alanfreed: I believe it was just north of Old Faithful along Route 191. It's near another geyser, the name of which I don't remember.
Originally posted by ursula: I think I've seen these trees. The Madison area? I like it, skeletons, very beautiful. |

Wyomingby alanfreedComment by alanfreed: That was along Route 14, between Cody and Yellowstone. That's one of the most incredibly scenic drives I've ever taken (twice!) I believe this is less than an hour east of the entrance to Yellowstone.
I have pictures that I took of this formation back in 1988, so I was pretty excited to see it again!
