are they dead bees .. or wasps .. wasps have cells similar to whats in your photo ..
but it can be catastrophe of sorts when any insect life is destroyed .. even the dreaded wasps ..

anyway .. i'll say what i thought when this first opened .. WOW .. what an amazing image .. loving all the testures and the tones ..
then i thought of dead wasps .. :(

this should do brilliantly in the challenge .. you have created a work of art from that catastrophe ..

Nice! This is a truly lovely scene and photograph, but it just doesn't speak negative space to me. Probably because of the reflection and the fact that the lake is just too pretty.
