Fence & Apple — Nauset Beachby Bear_MusicComment by Jutilda: Where did this come from?? I just love this!!! The roundness of the apple against the square of the pickets. You clever devil you. What a lovely shot. The blues are given a little lift by the red and yellow of the fruit. |

beach-grass-wide-IMG_0370.jpgby Bear_MusicComment by BeeGee: Nice shots, Robert. I have to agree with the others and I love my 10-22, too. What a Alienyst and Justin don't seem to realize is that the DOF automatically grows to enormous depths with an extremely short focal length. That's why compact digital cameras with a short zoom fail to produce even the faintest touch of OOF back- or foreground (except maybe in macro mode or fully zoomed to the tele end with a huge difference in distance between lens and subject and lens and fore- or background respectively). The Fuji 602 I used before I got my 20D was the equivalent of a 35-210 but the focal length of the lens was something like a 6 to 36 and it was only at the full tele end that you could make a little use of DOF as a creative element in your pictures. Now with the 10-22 it's similar, i.e. you can hardly get OOF elements in your picture, even when the lens is wide open, BECAUSE the short focal length doesn't allow for anything but huge DOF.
Sorry if I sound preachy here, was just wondering if people realize that the DOF is practically out of the photographer's control when it comes to using a 10mm lens.
Cheers,

1977by Bear_MusicComment by Emilio: As a collector of antique cameras, I enjoy this picture. I wouldn't call it a winner but it makes me smile and that's enough for me. |
