runnels on beach.jpgby Bear_MusicComment by Bear_Music: I'm with Neil on this one; I have other images from the same shoot that are done from an angle that has no glare, and they have no power at all. Without the brightness, we lose most of the sense of depth, the sense of "huge" contained in such a small slice of sand. |

runnels on beach.jpgby Bear_MusicComment by Neil: I really like the abstract nature of this one! At first I didn't think the dark area should be included at the top, but after examining it longer, I see that it's essential. Lovely!
The "glare" from the overexposed area, IMHO is exactly the same as the dark area. It will bother people who look at parts of the photo and analyze them, but not those who look at the whole and see how the whole is greater than the sum of the parts (gestalt). |

Clearing Storm — Nantucket Sound, Autumnby Bear_MusicComment by Olyuzi: Clouds and sky are equisite and I like the slivery sea, but I find the sand a bit too reddish/brown. The two people walking are a bit too obscure to add impact. Also, I also think you should change your style of title as it gives away the artist. |

Clearing Storm — Nantucket Sound, Autumnby Bear_MusicComment by scalvert: Reeeeeally wide angle, but the people are too tiny to create a real focal point IMO, and the muted color in the sky seems a little strange. I'd love to see this with a pure white seagull soaring relatively close in the upper left (easy, right?). Still one of the better entries in this group. 7 |

Untitledby Bear_MusicComment by RonBeam: I really like what is happening here. The texture, shadows and colors are superb. I just feel one definitive object (small - like a green marble or something, or a small tear in the fabric, etc.) on this field would finish the composition. Just something to break things up a little more. 7 |

Tidy Catby Bear_MusicComment by nova: All I can figure is that your challenge average was getting uncomfortably high and you threw this one in there to drag it back to earth :o). But I think I would have titled it "Scoop Away" just to be contrary - heh heh. Message edited by author 2005-10-19 13:56:11. |
