I don't know what it is about this photo, but I just don't get any sense of belonging out of it. Many times, if I see a landscape like this, I can feel like I'm there, but in this one, I *feel* like I'm just looking at it on paper/through a screen. Problem is, I can't place exactly why. There's depth, yet it still feels flat.

Maybe it has something to do with that overly bright spot in the reeds along down from the cloud line... lens flare of some sort? It sucks me in more than the surroundings.

Ahhh heck. This is just one of those times where nothing I can say is particularly helpful. I just don't like it on a personal level.

I'm surprised I didn't tell you how much I like this charming, nostalgic scene. The boy in the red cap is almost straight from a Norman Rockwell illustration. I like the lovely natural colors of the sunset too.
