I can't believe this scored so low. I love how the pencil box breaks up the nature scene. Also how the colors on the box don't necessarily blend in with the surroundings. Clever photo.

From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint it appears to be slightly over saturated, but isn't. A worthy entry into the challenge and directly related to the challenge subject. A good effort and if the saturation was turned down just a little, it would have been near perfect. The author might want to experiment with this image a little by giving it a black and white conversion and playing with curves or tone mapping to give it a different look for entry into print competitions.

A clever idea and a technical success, it's less than successful in an artistic sense. DOF control is excellant and the lighting isn't over done creating blooms. The subject is less than interesting. Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped. A little more thought and better framing would have brought the rating higher.
