Lowering Storm, Dusk, Province Landsby Bear_MusicComment by Teafran: The original review didn't reveal what became readily apparent on comment review - there are two images here and both are excellant post-impressionist images. Of the image was cropped to just aboe the mid-ground print, it's a perfect homage to Van Gogh and his post-impressionist style. On the other hand, if the bottom third of the image was cropped off, it would be another Van Gogh style post-impressionist image. In either case, this is a wonderful image and one that, by rights, should be recognised for both it's technical excellance and significant artistic impression. Originally rated a 7 on the first pass through due to a mistaken impression, it's rerated to a 10 and if a 11 could be issued, it would have been. A wonderful entry into the challenge and one of this reviewer's all time DPC favorites. Well done. |

Thanks for the above comments colorcarnival. I normally do not enjoy having my picture taken so it's definitely kudos to you, Bear_Music, for that capture! Having resigned myself to the fact that I was not going to be able to avoid it I decided that I might as well smile, or should that be "grin and bear it!" Salt Marsh, Early Springby Bear_MusicComment by fldave: I strongly prefer the Topaz version; the original is quite strong, but seems soft at distance. For me, the darker clouds confirm the diagonal visual flow through the frame. Very nice shot! |

Salt Marsh, Early Springby Bear_MusicComment by JuliBoc: I think the original is quite beautiful to begin with. To me, this version is a little too much. I like what you did, but I would back it off some. This seems to have too much contrast (too dark), and the sky seems overbearing instead of uplifting, as it is in the original. Also I don't get the same feel of distance in this version. It seems to have flattened the scene. I like what it did to the texture of the tree and marsh grass, but I think the grass is a bit overdone too. |

Copper Beech, Early Springby Bear_MusicComment by colorcarnival: I'm not sure why this didn't finish higher, but the scoring in this one was odd. I liked how the tree was centered. Your processing really did a wonderful job in bringing out details and emphasizing the light. |
