The setting doesn't look like what I would expect from your neck of the woods though... what it makes me think of is tundra, especially the way the pool seems somewhat on its own.

this really lacks the edge that im used to in your photos i think thats why it caught me off guard so much. to me, the flattening effect of the HDR and the minor underexposure dont quite make this on on par with the rest of your photos. on the other hand the amount of color contrast makes it almost look like a painting.

I agree with your assessment. The clouds have some decent pop and the glassiness of the water is beautiful. The foreground is on the left is a little flat though... or at least doesn't live up the extremely high bar that you usually achieve 99% of the time.
