Christmas Dawnby marinajoeComment by Gringo: Nice frame. It is a great landscape; my only suggestion would be to increase the contrast and saturation slightly. That's my own preference, but it could simply be the difference from my monitor to yours. Nice job. |

A Bee's Eye Veiwby marinajoeComment by inspzil: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - This is not what I would've expected for Fill the Frame. It doesn't make it right or wrong, just what I think. I think that the general composition part would work for this photo, if it were more focused. I wouldn't consider it to be an award winning composition, but one that definitely has more potential that 3.9. The colors are pretty good, maybe a little bit orangy for my tastes. I'd have put the center of the flower slightly more to the right.
Technical - This is the part that really gave this poor flower a hard time, focus. You pretty much always have to have crystal clear focus for most everything you do on DPC. So that was a big problem that the voters found with this picture. I can't say I blame them, it isn't a solid picture. That one element would've probably added a point and a half to you score, just being in focus. But alas... The exposure is pretty good, just maybe a little short on the shutter. the F# tells me that there would be more than just a little shallow focus spot in the center, if it were in focus.
Overall - The lack of focus really hurt this picture. It would've worked much better if it were tack sharp. This soft, almost no pictures on DPC fare well. Hope your next endeavor comes out better. Good Luck - Bob |

Dragonfly Ciestaby marinajoeComment by Geds: NIce shot, but could've done with being a bit sharper ... I guess this was cropped a fair bit. Also perhaps the wings could've fitted inside the shot. Lovely subject. |
