This is a very interesting wine opener, I would like to see it made more the focus of your picture, the background is distracting.

NIce idea. Looks like an intersting subject. The lighting seems kind of flat and slightly dim. The background seems kind of busy and unappealing, even with the short dof.

The wine bottle opener is a wonderful piece of machinery. You'll probably hear this a lot, but the background (stove, cupboards, etc.) are not the best setting for this beauty. If you want to isolate a subject, try one of several techniques: check out a local crafts store to see if you can find sheets of posterboard, or even large pieces of drawing paper; failing that, use a drape of - carefully ironed, no creases - cloth. Finally, your placement of this beautiful piece in the frame is very good. A good background and maybe a sturdy tripod would make this a winner. Good luck in future entries.

This could have been an awesome picture if it was taken with a solid black background. The subject is very appealing but the background here is too cluttered. The white balance is way off and the picture is not too sharp. I would try practicing with this piece taking it in front of a solid background.

I know the background is tough to shoot around but it detracts from your marvelous mechanical item (you've really captured the detail but it's lost amongst the cabinets and cooktop)

Too funny! I didn't even notice that both their wings were opened! I would've titled it differently if I'd noticed it! :)

I agree 100% with all of this! This was my very first attempt at an challenge. I guess I need to find cheap ways of creating a "studio". I was disappointed about her eyes being closed, but I couldn't get another shot with the birds wings open, so I just went with this one!

Thanx for your feedback :)

That is such an amazing picture! My guess is you had to take quite a few to get this shot! It was worth it! Great capture!
