A Musician's Best Friendby magnonComment by GBrummett: Nice shot but I think the skin tones are too blown out. Bring that area and the keyboard down alitle and I think the mood will change nicely!.. just my opinion. |

A Musician's Best Friendby magnonComment by reitsma: This photo seems to be out of balance.
According to the title, the subject is the instrument (musician's best friend), yet in the picture, the piano only seems to take up 3% of the image space (i calculated!), with a clear focus on the musician.
Of course, his eyes do lead you down there, but then my attention was more drawn to the hand then what the hand was touching.
Great shot though, i really like it. Only problems are this disagreement with the title, and it doesn't really convey the theme to me. |

A Musician's Best Friendby magnonComment by strangeghost: I really like this image - it is much more than a simple snapshot. I think the decision for BW was obviously correct. The dark tones of the clothing and background contrast beautifully with the keyboard and the fleshtones. The cluttered look of the background, though indistinct and not overwhelming, subtracts from the impact, especially the bright white objects just above the subject's hand. I like the expression on the face but this part of the photo seems a little soft (which could cost you with the DPC obsession with sharpness). I like the crop too. Finally, the title. I usually don't comment on titles, nor to I ever include them in my voting judgment. I will only suggest that rather than using the title of the challenge as part of the title, find a way to suggest it without using the word. Maybe "musician's connection" or something. This is a very nice entry and will surely finish in the top half of the pack. Just where is hard to say. |

A Musician's Best Friendby magnonComment by cosmic: I like everything about this shot! Composition, lighting and the dark radiance works really well here. You captured great emotion in his eyes. You can "feel" that his music is definitly part of his soul. |
