Your picture is centered well.
As I am beginning to learn here at DPC, presentation another part of the equasion. Having the show in a shoe box (even if it didn't originally come in one) would be part of the message of something being new. Perhaps shooting this inside the store instead of inside a home would also add a nice touch to the background.
You've got a fairly good eye for "balance."

Rule of thirds I less background would have been helpful to this photo.

I think you should have used a more equally colored background. I find all the different objects in the background distracting. Nice idea though and a very clever title :)

I'd have liked to see more of the subject in the picture.

I think I would have liked this better with a solid colored background (new shoes in a store are usually on a solid colored background) also, maybe if the rest of the shoe were int he photo it would be more impactful. I like the idea of taking the photo from the front instead of the traditional side shot, and I realize that you were trying to focus on the REEBOK, but reebok isn't what is new, it's the shoe, so there is my reasoning for getting the whole shoe in the shot. Same angle, solid background, but the whole shoe. Plus, I really like the look of new shoe laces. Maybe I'm just a freak, but new laces with those little plastic tips (they're called egglets, by the way) would really help to portray this as new...cause you can TELL when laces are new, or if they've been worn. Anyway, this is a good idea, just a few more visual effects would make it more lively. Congrats and good luck in the challenge.

Good shot :) This is the beginning of a nice product shot for Reebok :) I like the side lighting on this photo. I think this photo would benefit somewhat from a dark solid background possibly. Even though the background is blurred nicely in this image, it is offering some contrasting colors that create a minor distraction from your subject... good work :) - jmsetzler
